From mere rumors about returning after a 15-year absence, Tyson signed on the dotted line in late July. Betting lines went out a few days later, showing “Iron Mike” as the -170 favorite. Late last week, the official poster was finally released.
Both elite fighters hold decorated careers and multiple world titles, but never got to face each other during their prime. The last time the 54-year-old Tyson set foot in a boxing ring was in June 2005 against journeyman Kevin McBride, who knocked him out in the sixth round.
The 51-year-old Jones stayed a bit more active, competing as recent as February 2018. He fought against Scott Sigmon and won by unanimous decision.
