After a bad year in the Octagon, it appears featherweight contender Renato Moicano has decided to begin a new chapter in 2020 at a new weight class. Per Combate’s report, the Brazilian will now test the lightweight waters at UFC Brasilia, against heavy-handed Damir Hadzovic in March.

The past year was not a good one for Moicano (13-3-1). Two times he entered the Octagon, and twice he lost via knockout. First, in February 2019, Renato was bested by former featherweight champion Jose Aldo. And, in June, Chan Sung Jung finished the Brazilian in only 58 seconds. The 30-year-old’s last win came in August 2018, when he tapped out Cub Swanson via rear-naked choke.

Damir Hadzovic (13-5) will also look to bounce back from a loss for his first fight of 2020. Back in June 2019, the ‘Bosnian Bomber’ dropped a unanimous decision to Christos Giagos. The defeat snapped a two-fight winning streak, with a TKO win over Marco Polo Reyes and a split decision victory against Nick Hein.

UFC Fight Night 170 is scheduled to be headlined by a lightweight bout between contenders Charles Oliveira and Kevin Lee. A welterweight bout between Demian Maia and Gilbert Burns has been reported for the co-main event.
