Former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao finally has an opponent for his Taura MMA debut after being picked up by the rising promotion earlier this month. Per Combate’s report, the 33-year-old Brazilian will have the first fight of a three-bout contract be a main event against a fellow Octagon veteran in Bobby Moffett.

Barao (34-9-1 NC) left the UFC on a five-fight losing skid, dropping his last bout in a featherweight bout against Douglas Andrade, in December 2019. The Brazilian’s last win came in September 2016, when he bested Phillipe Nover via unanimous decision. For his match against Moffett, the former champ will remain at the 145-pound division.

Moffett (13-5-1 NC) did not manage to score a win in his three-fight UFC stint. During his tenure, the ‘Wolfman’ dropped decisions to Enrique Barzola and Bryce Mitchell. His November 2018 submission win over Chas Skelly was later overturned once his opponent appealed the loss due to an erroneous call by referee Tim Mills.

Now, Barao is expected to meet Moffett at Taura 12’s main event, on November 21, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
