Ciryl Gane will fight his toughest opponent yet, as he faces Jairzinho Rozenstruik in March.
A heavyweight fight between two hard hitters is being targeted for a UFC event on March 13th, as Jairzinho Rozenstruik is set to fight Ciryl Gane.
La Sueur first reported the news, though the UFC is yet to confirm the matchup. Recently announced to headline the Fight Night card in March is a re-booked welterweight fight between Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev, which has twice been postponed due to COVID-19 positive results.
Rozenstruik (11-1) has only lost once in the UFC since making his debut in February 2019. “Bigi Boi” has picked up stoppage wins against the likes of Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski during his time in the UFC, and is yet to see judges scorecards. Rozenstruik last fought at UFC 252, knocking out former champion Junior Dos Santos.
The rising prospect Gane (7-0) was signed to the UFC in 2019. Coincidentally Gane is also coming off a win over Dos Santos, stopping the former champion at UFC 256 this past December. Gane had three other scheduled fights cancelled in 2020 before finally making his appearance on the promotion’s final show of the year.
Current rankings have Rozenstruik at #3 and Gane at #7.
