Lightweights Francisco Trinaldo and Carlos Diego Ferreira will reportedly square off in Rio de Janeiro.
A lightweight clash of fellow countrymen is headed to Rio de Janeiro. According to Combate’s report, veteran Francisco Trinaldo will take on rising Brazilian jiu-jitsu blackbelt Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC 237, in their home country of Brazil.
One of the last alumns from the first season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil to still be competing in the Octagon, Francisco Trinaldo (23-6) scored a TKO win over Evan Dunham in his last bout, in September 2018. Before that, ‘Massaranduba’ suffered an unanimous decision loss to James Vick in February of the same year.
Currently on a four-fight winning streak, Carlos Diego Ferreira (15-2) bested Rustam Khabilov via unanimous decision in his last outing, in February, but also defeated the likes of Kyle Nelson, Jared Gordon and Olivier Aubin-Mercier before that. Ferreira’s last loss happened in April 2015, when he was knocked out by Dustin Poirier.
Francisco Trinaldo is expected to take on Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC 237, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on May 11. The card will be headlined by a strawweight title fight between the champion, Rose Namajunas, and challenger Jessica Andrade.
