Report: UFC expected to fire 60-80 employees
Happy trails!
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is expected to fire approximately 60-80 employees following the recent acquisition by WME | IMG last summer, worth roughly $4 billion.
That’s according to a report from MMA Fighting, which also indicates the cuts are worldwide, extending to UFC offices in Asia, Brazil, Latin America, and Canada.
Don’t worry, UFC President Dana White will remain on for at least five years and was compensated quite handsomely in the deal. Former CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, however, stepped down to pursue other interests.
A changing of the guard is not uncommon following a corporate buyout and some of the senior executives were likely afforded time to polish up their resumes. UFC matchmaker Joe Silva, along with senior vice president of public relations Dave Sholler, have already set sail.
Look at the bright side, at least the promotion’s best fighters are staying put.
