Dustin Jacoby vs. Dominick Reyes squared off in a Light Heavyweight contest earlier tonight (Sat. June 8, 2024) from KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky for UFC Louisville.
Reyes moved well early and feinted his way into a left kick land. He landed a nice counter combination a moment later, but Jacoby began to find success with his own kicking game. Before long, Jacoby was fully on the offensive, walking Reyes down with big swings. One seemed to sting Reyes, but “The Devastator” was far from done!
As Reyes’ back hit the cage, he bounced off with a nasty straight counter punch. Jacoby was stunned and backed off, but Reyes followed up with an accurate left hand and big knee to floor the kickboxer. Jacoby regained his footing, but the ensuing flurry of power punches sent him back to the mat, face-first.
That’s all she wrote.
This is such a huge victory for Reyes! Back in the win column for the first time since his closely contested defeat to Jon Jones, Reyes genuinely looked quite sharp, particularly compared to the Alonzo Menifield fight. He was feinting and moving well, seeing his opponent’s shots coming, and when Jacoby tried to press him, he was ready to answer.
Hopefully, this is the start of a new successful chapter in Reyes’ career
Result: Dominick Reyes defeats Dustin Jacoby via first-round knockout
