The highly anticipated fight between Dominick Reyes and Jiri Prochazka will have to wait.
An injury has forced Dominick Reyes out of the UFC Vegas 20 main event against Jiri Prochazka later this month.
The UFC announced the news on Wednesday, but no details of Reyes’ injury or how long he would be out for were revealed. Prochazka has since been pulled from the card entirely and the promotion will reschedule the fight at a later date.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs Cyril Gane was rescheduled to headline the Feb. 27th event before the news of Reyes’ withdrawal. The fight between the two heavyweights was moved from a UFC event on Mar. 13th and was originally supposed to be three rounds.
Reyes (12-2) was hoping to get back in the win column against Prochazka after losing his last two fights, both of which were for the UFC light heavyweight title. “The Devastator” lost a close decision to Jon Jones last February, and was knocked out by Jan Blachowicz at UFC 253 in September.
Prochazka (27-3-1) arrived in style to the UFC last July by knocking out Volkan Oezdemir in his debut, earning a $50,000 bonus to make his win even sweeter. The 28-year-old, who already has 31 fights under his belt, was ranked as the fifth-best UFC newcomer of 2020.
