Another Resurrection Fighting Alliance champion has joined the UFC.
Christos Giagos, the current Resurrection Fighting Alliance lightweight champion, will make his transition to the Octagon against undefeated Gilbert Burns, who drops down to the 155-pound division following a successful UFC debut as a welterweight, at UFC 179 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Oct. 25.
MMAFighting.com confirmed the bout with sources close to the situation, following a report by Combate.
Giagos (10-2) makes his UFC debut riding a four-fight winning streak. In his past couple bouts, “The Spartan” finished Dakota Cochrane and Sevak Magakian to win the RFA and Tachi PF lightweight titles, respectively.
Burns (8-0) returns to the lightweight division following a solid victory over Andreas Stahl at UFC on FOX 12 in July. The Blackzilians prospect had weight cutting issues in the past when attempting to fight at 155 pounds in Brazil, but plans to work with Mike Dolce for his next bout.
