UFC featherweight veteran Ricardo Lamas is slated to return to Chicago for his next fight.
It’ll be another hometown bout for longtime UFC men’s featherweight contender Ricardo Lamas.
A report from Chicago Tribune’s Phil Thompson (later verified by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto) The former title challenger and Chicago-native Ricardo Lamas will take on Calvin Kattar at UFC 238 on June 8th in the famed United Center. The main card airs live exclusively on pay-per-view, with prelims split between ESPN and UFC Fight Pass.
Lamas (19-7) is seeking a second consecutive victory, having most recently scored a TKO finish of the notoriously tough Darren Elkins at UFC Buenos Aires last November. “The Bully” had previously suffered consecutive defeats to Josh Emmett (by KO) and Mirsad Bektic (by decision).
Kattar (19-3) boasts a 3-1 record inside the Octagon. The 31-year-old pulled off what was then considered an upset win over Andre Fili at UFC 214, followed by a thrilling TKO Of Shane Burgos at UFC 220. He would drop a decision to Renato Moicano at UFC 223, but bounced back with a TKO of Chris Fishold at UFC Moncton last October.
Current UFC featherweight rankings have Lamas at #11 and Kattar at #15.
UFC 238 will be headlined by a vacant men’s bantamweight championship bout between Marlon Moraes and flyweight king Henry Cejudo, while women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko defends her belt against Jessica Eye.
