It’s been a pretty busy week for the injury bug.
Not long after news broke that Paige VanZant was bounced from Brasilia with an undisclosed boo-boo, a new report from MMA Junkie has bantamweight contender, Jimmie Rivera, riding the pine until further notice. Like “12 Gauge,” details of “El Terror’s” injury have not yet been made available.
Rivera was scheduled to throw hands with Marlon Vera in a grudge match booked for the upcoming UFC 247 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Feb. 8 inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, the same card that recently saw Dhiego Lima drop out of his welterweight contest against Alex Morono, according to Combate, after hurting his neck.
Fortunately, the championship main event featuring 205-pound kingpin Jon Jones against Dominick Reyes remains intact, as does the championship co-headliner pitting strawweight titleholder Valentina Shevchenko opposite Kaitlyn Chookagian. To see the revised UFC 247 fight card and line up click here.
