RIZIN has been forced to postpone its upcoming combat sports event after Japan extended its state of emergency until the end of the month, thanks to a protracted battle with COVID-19.
Originally scheduled for May 30, RIZIN 29 will now take place on June 27.
“I have made the decision to postpone the event after consulting with the fighters, staff and organizers,” CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara said (via MMA Fighting). “Everyone was willing to adapt and put on a show for the fans a month later. It has been nearly a year with reduced attendance but the fans presence and support is what pushes the fighters to put on the best shows.”
