Angela Magana’s first fight since her UFC release did not go very well.

If you didn’t stay up in the middle of the night to watch Rizin FF 12 in Japan, no worries as the great folks of MMA Twitter have got you covered for highlights.

One of the more notable results from Sunday morning’s card was Angela Magana failing to get her post-UFC career off to a bright start. At the start of fight week, Magana declared that her opponent Kanako Murata is on steroids… and equated her to Chong Li from the movie Bloodsport.

Well this backfired spectacularly, as Magana wound up losing by Von Flue choke late in the 2nd round. Here’s the video, via Bestrafer7.

Magana has lost six in a row, dropping her to 11-10 overall, and she hasn’t recorded a win since 2011. This is presumably the absolute last time we have good reason to pay attention to her. Murata improves to 7-1, with her lone loss coming against Rin Nakai.

On a sadder note, former Shooto featherweight champ Hatsu Hioki was once again knocked out, this time by Mikuru Asukura in the opening round.

That’s three KO defeats in a row for Hioki. I told you it was sad.

One UFC veteran who actually fared well was Kiichi Kunimoto, who was able to submit Ryuichiro Sumimura with a nifty arm-triangle choke. (via Jonnyboy)

The only other submission of the event saw co-headliner Yuki Motoya, who’d repeatedly threatened to finish Kazuma Sone with chokes, finally get the job done in round two with a rear-naked choke. (via inxxane)

In the main event, Luiz Gustavo did some really bad things to Yusuke Yachi, causing him to faceplant his way into unconsciousness. Good work by the undefeated Wanderlei Silva protege. (via Caposa)
