Jake Heun is facing a long list of charges related to the alleged importation of methamphetamine.
According to court documents obtained by Jack Wannan of Knockdown News MMA veteran Jake Heun, 33, is facing a long list of criminal charges in Melbourne, Australia.
Reportedly Heun has been charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled drug, one count of importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug, one count of attempting to possess a commercial quantity of border controlled drugs and one count of importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled precursor.
Authorities state that Heun imported methamphetamine into Australia in 2019 and 2020. Heun is also accused of importing methyl alpha-phenyl acetoacetatem a ‘designer precursor’ used in the production of narcotics.
Heun is expected to appear in court on May 4 for a committal hearing.
Nicknamed ‘The Honey Bear’ Heun began fighting in 2011. In 2012 he appeared on The Ultimate Fighter Season 17. He was eliminated from that season of TUF after losing to Adam Cella in the elimination round of the competition.
Heun appeared on TUF 19 a year later, again falling at the elimination stages—this time to Todd Monaghan.
In the years that followed Heun fought a number of times for WSOF, facing both Vinny Magalhaes and Smealinho Rama. In 2018 he signed for the PFL during that outfit’s inaugural season. With the PFL Heun competed in their heavyweight tournament bracket, but lost to Alex Nicholson (via flying knee) in the first round.
In 2018 Heun also debuted in RIZIN, losing to rising UFC talent Jiri Prochazka via TKO. Heun is currently on a three fight winning streak with RIZIN after wins over Roque Martinez, Vitaly Shemetov and Satoshi Ishii.
Heun’s last fight, versus Ishii, happened at RIZIN 20 in December 2019.
