Light heavyweight contender Robert Rodriguez withdrew himself from the M-1 Selection Americas tournament and his bout against Daniel Vizcaya due to a back injury and is being replaced by Chris ‘The Finisher’ Sydnor, who has taken the fight on short notice.

As a hard-nosed 26 year old fighter out of Bay Shore, New York, Sydnor has been in wars of his own with a recent decision loss to Bruce Monroe at the third instalment of Broad Avenue Brawlers mixed martial event. Even on the short notice, Sydnor is ready to go, “Fighting is what I do. It’s in my blood. I’m ready to step into the ring at any time.”

With a spot in the M-1 Selection Americas Finals on the line, Sydnor will have his hands full with professional mixed martial arts newcomer, Daniel Vizcaya, who displayed dominant control in an impressive ground-and-pound victory over Ariel Sepulveda during the M-1 Selection 2010 – Americas Second Round this past June.

M-1 Global’s Director of Operations, Evgeni Kogan, took an understanding approach to the late change in the light heavyweight bracket.“Our matchmaker, Paul Domenech, has done a great job in mitigating the challenge presented by an unexpected injury. Injuries happen in MMA and we react accordingly. I think the fans are in for an exciting bout between two fighters looking to make a mark for themselves.”

No matter how you slice it, the victor will need to hit the mats immediately in preparation to return to Atlantic City a mere six weeks later on September 18 for the clash to determine the Americas Light Heavyweight tournament champion .

The M-1 Selection2010 – Americas tournament third round takes place live on August 7 at Bally’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Tickets are available through www.TicketMaster.com. Doors open at 7:00 pm, first fight at 7:30 PM/ET.

Free broadcast coverage of the entire 2010 M-1 Selection tournament will be available live to viewers worldwide on www.M-1global.com and selected affiliate partner sites.
