Now that Georges St-Pierre has vacated the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight title, Robert Whittaker — who previously defeated Yoel Romero for the interim strap — will move on to defend his unified title against Luke Rockhold.
They’ll do the deed in the UFC 221 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, set for Sat., Feb. 11, 2018 inside Perth Arena in Western Australia, a five-round headliner that came together after former division titleholder Michael Bisping was stopped by Kelvin Gastelum.
Watch them face off in the embedded video above.
Whittaker (19-4) is currently enjoying an eight-fight win streak, one that includes a technical knockout victory over Jacare Souza. Rockhold (16-3), meanwhile, rebounded from his loss to the aforementioned Bisping by stopping David Branch.
Hard to believe we’re already less than two months away from fight night, but it will be nice to get the division back on track after “The Count” kept his middleweight brethren in a holding patter for the better part of 2017.
So … you taking Whittaker, or Rockhold?
