Retired NBA star Nate Robinson gave his friends and family a pretty big scare last weekend in Los Angeles, face-planting in his co-main event against YouTube star Jake Paul as part of the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. boxing pay-per-view (PPV) on FITE.

“Thank you everyone for all of the well wishes, I’m okay,” Robinson wrote on Instagram. “I appreciate Triller for the opportunity as well as everyone that has backed me during the fight. To my coaches, trainers, fans, and teammates, I appreciate all of the time and support you guys put in with me… it wasn’t the outcome that we wanted, but I’m thankful for the opportunity to fight on the biggest stage that there has been.”
That folks, is how you lose with dignity.
Robinson is not a pugilist and had no business being inside the ring. Not that anyone was elevating Paul to the level of pro boxer, but to his credit, “The Problem Child” has been training consistently and making a genuine effort to improve his skills.
And let’s face it, affording Paul and Robinson the opportunity to co-headline a Tyson card is no more insulting than watching former WWE champion CM Punk bank $500,000 to embarrass himself on a pair of UFC PPV cards.
