Yair Rodriguez has accused Jeremy Stephens of quitting at UFC Fight Night 159.
Yair Rodriguez hasn’t exactly been apologetic to Jeremy Stephens after striking his opponent in the eye this past Saturday at UFC Fight Night 159.
That eye poke, which Rodriguez landed just fifteen seconds into the opening round, signalled the end of the fight, as referee Herb Dean ruled the bout a No Contest (NC) due to Stephens being unable to open his left eye.
Both men got into a minor scuffle after the fight and Rodriguez is absolutely furious with the result.
Rather than take responsibility for landing an illegal strike — albeit accidentally — the 26-year-old talent has continued to dig at Stephens by accusing the UFC veteran of ‘quitting’ (h/t h/t r/u/GabiCule).
Stephens has called for an immediate rematch with Rodriguez but believes the Mexican-born fighter will try to duck him. The 33-year-old was unable to open his eye while back in the locker room but reports that his vision has now fully recovered.
“Nothing blurred [now]. A little pain, it’s a little light sensitive, but other than that, my vision’s all right.”
