Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently announced the featherweight rematch between top contenders Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega, who will run it back in the five-round UFC Mexico City co-main event, locked and loaded for Sat., Feb. 24, 2024.
Rodriguez (19-4-1) is coming off a third-round technical knockout defeat to division champion Alex Volkanovski in the UFC 290 headliner last July. As for Ortega (15-2, 1 NC), he’s remained inactive since injuring his shoulder against Rodriguez in a technical knockout loss to “El Pantera” when they first went to war at UFC on ABC 3 back in summer 2022.
“T-City” is ranked one spot below Rodriguez in the official featherweight rankings.
UFC Mexico City will be headlined by the flyweight fracas between former 125-pound champion Brandon Moreno and Iraqi “Prince” Amir Albazi. Elsewhere on the card, Edgar Chairez and Daniel Lacerda collide at flyweight, not long after Victor Altamarino and Felipe dos Santos hook ‘em up at 125 pounds.
Expect more UFC Mexico City fight card announcements in the coming weeks.
