“The idea that Deontay Wilder with a 40lb outfit killed his legs just walking to the ring, that’s crazy talk, I don’t understand it.”

Joe Rogan isn’t quite sold on Deontay Wilder’s excuse for losing to Tyson Fury, as the longtime UFC commentator and podcast host said a man of Wilder’s athletic ability shouldn’t have any problem wearing a 45-pound suit to the boxing ring.

Wilder was finished by Fury in the seventh round and blamed his walkout costume for the defeat, but Rogan can’t understand why ‘The Bronze Bomber’ would say that, especially not after revealing to Rogan in 2018 that he wore a 45-pound vest to train for his original bout with ‘The Gypsy King’.

“It’s unfortunate, podcast host Rogan said on a recent episode of JRE (h/t Jordan Ellis of Low Kick MMA). “I put an Atlas Pack on my back all the time and I put a 45lb plate on, so it’s about 55lbs and I go hiking through the hills. Afterwards I can still do whatever the f*ck I want and I’m just Joe Rogan, I’m not Deontay f*cking Wilder. The idea that Deontay Wilder with a 40lb outfit killed his legs just walking to the ring, that’s crazy talk, I don’t understand it. I don’t understand why he would say that. I mean maybe it’s true.”

Rogan then changed his stance but is still baffled by Wilder’s comments.

“It’s a crazy decision (to wear it). No! That’s not what happened though. I mean it might have wore him out, it might have wore him out but the real big thing happened in the third round. When Tyson Fury, he put that jab in his face and hit him with a beautiful overhand right, right on the ear and dropped him.”

Wilder, who fought Fury to a draw back in 2018, will be exercising his rematch clause in the hopes of securing a trilogy bout with Fury later this year.
