Why is Dana White making plans for Khabib Nurmagomedov when he has to take on Tony Ferguson in April?

Joe Rogan thinks Dana White shouldn’t be playing matchmaker for Khabib Nurmagomedov until after his fight with Tony Ferguson in April.

The UFC president White has already spoken about putting together a rematch between Conor McGregor and Khabib after McGregor was successful in his MMA return last month against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

Talking recently on his podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience”, Rogan said why he thinks the ‘terrifying’ Ferguson will undoubtedly be the toughest fight of Khabib’s career.

“Tony is the boogeyman. That nickname, ‘El Cucuy’, that’s the perfect nickname for that guy, he is terrifying,” Rogan said. “He never gets tired, everybody who fights him looks like they fell off a train, it’s crazy. I think Khabib vs. Tony is the toughest fight of Khabib’s career. I think Tony Ferguson is the scariest guy for anybody at 155 pounds to fight. He doesn’t get tired and has fucking bricks for hands. I had Josh Thomson in here the other day and he was saying that when Tony Ferguson grabs him, you can’t believe how big his hands are.” (Transcription via BJ Penn)

Ferguson has won 12-straight fights at 155-pounds, including stoppage wins over the likes of Donald Cerrone, Edson Barboza and Anthony Pettis. Rogan continued his praise of the ‘eccentric’ Ferguson and said the fight with Khabib promises to be ‘epic.’

“He’s a spooky dude. There’s something about him, like, he ain’t normal. He’s not a normal guy. He’s eccentric but in the good way, especially when it comes to being a fighter,” Rogan said. “The two of them together, it’s an epic fight. But I would not be making any plans if I was Dana or if I was anybody else. I would not be making any plans, because Khabib can win that fight, but it’s not guaranteed. Ferguson can win that fight, too.”

Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson is expected to take place at UFC 249 on April 18th. This is the fifth time this fight between the two has been scheduled to take place.
