Submission ace Roger Gracie (3-0) will step back into a Strikeforce cage at the end of January in a light-heavyweight bout against Shark Fights champ Trevor Prangley (23-6-1).
Sherdog.com was the first to report the bout on Monday, noting the bout would take place at the upcoming Jan. 29th Strikeforce event at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
Gracie, who has only fought in mixed martial arts three times since his first fight in February of 2006, made his last Strikeforce appearance at the Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery event when he submitted Kevin Randleman in the second round. Gracie is a 10-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion and two-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships winner.
Prangley is 1-1-1 in his last three fights and is coming off a non-title fight win over Keith Jardine at September’s Shark Fights 13 event. His last Strikeforce appearance was in June at the Strikeforce: Las Angeles show, where he was submitted in a middleweight bout to Tim Kennedy. The draw in that three fight run was to Karl Amoussou at a Strikeforce Challengers six event after Prangley accidentally poked Amoussou in the eye and he was unable to continue.
