“El Matador” is back!

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Bellator MMA star, Roger Huerta, will be making his return to the cage after three years of action. Per a press release, it was revealed that the ex-Sports Illustrated cover boy will return at PFL Glasgow on Sept, 28, 2024 to face Robert Whiteford in the co-main event in Glasgow, Scotland.

Huerta (41) has not competed since getting stopped via strikes by Christopher Gonzalez at Bellator 255 (see it again here). Huerta went 0-4 in his last four fights with Bellator, losing to Benson Henderson, Patricky Pitbull, and Sidney Outlaw. Since 2010, Huerta has only managed to rack up a 3-10 record, which includes a stint under the ONE banner.

Now, “El Matador” hopes to return to his winning ways that once made him one of the most hyped prospects in the sport against Whiteford, who is 4-1-1 in his last five fights, though he was last seen losing to Daniel Weichel via first-round TKO at Bellator 281.

Headlining PFL Glasgow will be Stevie Ray taking on Lewis Long in a Lightweight bout. Ray is currently struggling having lost three straight, while Long — who will be making his PFL debut — is coming off a win over Ashley Griffiths under the Raged UK MMA umbrella.
