Former UFC middleweight title contender Yoel Romero was scheduled to make his Bellator MMA debut back in April, but “Soldier of God” failed his pre-fight physical and was forced from the promotion’s light heavyweight tournament.
Fortunately for fight fans, Romero expects to be back inside the cage by August.
“The fans can see me very soon,” Romero, 44, told The Schmo. “Maybe August, maybe 205 or maybe 185. I want to fight in both classes, I want the belt in both classes, but I’m coming soon. 205. I wanna kill somebody.”
Romero was paired off against fellow UFC export Anthony Johnson, who went on to stop Jose Augusto Azevedo Barros in the second stanza. No word yet on if or when matchmakers will pair these two off again, but “Soldier of God” remains optimistic.
“I can see the face of this amazing athlete,” Romero said about facing Johnson. “This will happen, I think so.”
Romero (13-5) has dropped three straight and four of his last five.
