Irish names are notoriously hard to pronounce sometimes, but Ronda Rousey didn’t exactly set the bar too high with her attempt.
As an MMA fan, you know one Irish name that’s always going to be easy to pronounce – Conor. But in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey was asked to pronounce a bunch of other Irish names. If you read the headline, you likely know how it turned out.
To be fair to Ronda, the names are pretty tough. Here’s the list:
Caoimhe
Ruaidhri
Darragh
Saoirse
Tadhg
Eoghan
Aiofe
Niamh
Aisling
Fionn
I think I would probably get two or three right. Rousey went one for ten, only getting Darragh correct. I guess she doesn’t watch TUF, but she should have going Aisling right at least – Aisling Daly was on season 20.
Rousey (12-1, 6-1 UFC), who was recently featured as one of the models on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition in bodypaint, is expected back in the octagon later this year for a third fight with Miesha Tate. Tate defeated Holly Holm for the women’s bantamweight title at UFC 196.
