In case you had forgotten that Ronda Rousey really doesn’t like Miesha Tate, we all were reminded on Saturday night.
The UFC women’s bantamweight champion her contempt for her rival Ultimate Fighter coach during an interview segment with Jon Anik at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
The fun started when Anik asked Rousey what would be the major difference between their upcoming rematch and their first fight, in which Rousey beat Tate for the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight title in 2012.
“The first time we fought i was less than a year since I’ve gone pro, and now I’m three years,” Rousey said. “I’m a more improved fighter since, I don’t think I’ve seen as good a performance from her since I won the title and she’s fought a few times since then. I feel like I have so many advantages I don’t even know what is the difference.”
When Tate was asked to respond, Rousey visibly turned in the other direction and affixed her gaze on the far upper corner of the arena.
This repeated the next time Tate got a chance to talk. This time, Rousey started visibly yawning before the camera cut away and Tate gave her answer.
As Rousey yawned, Tate asked how she’ll keep her emotions from getting the best of her, which is what she said caused her to lose their first fight.
“I got a lot of practice those six weeks [in the TUF house],” Tate said. “I’m trying to stay as emotionally uninvested as possible.”
This interview came before Rousey’s TUF finalists, Davey Grant and Jessica Rakoczy, both lost to Tate’s fighters, Chris Holdsworth and Julianna Pena, respectively.
Rousey looked equally unamused during a postfight appearance on FOX Sports 1. Once again appear with Tate, and this time with several people between them, Rousey proclaimed that she didn’t watch a minute of the TUF 18 season and ripped on the concept of reality television.
Rousey and Tate meet in four weeks in the co-main event of UFC 168 in Las Vegas.
