UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has been called a sex symbol by some. She’s been called the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter by others.
Rousey will take the latter title over the former any day of the week.
In a segment which aired on Tuesday night’s edition of HBO’s Real Sports, Rousey was asked about her standing atop Sports Illustrated’s pound-for-pound mixed martial arts rankings, a Top 10 list which included two women — Rousey and UFC strawweight champion Joanna J?drzejczyk (ranked No. 10) — and eight men.
“It makes me feel way better than if someone told me I was pretty,” Rousey said. “If I was voted the sexiest woman alive, it wouldn’t make me really happy. There’s a sexiest woman alive every year. Once in a blue moon you see a woman on the top of the pound-for-pound list.”
Besides, Rousey says, she’s not sure she agrees with the sex symbol status which has been bestowed upon her.
“I don’t really see myself as a sex symbol,” Rousey said. “Because ever since some people started calling me a sex symbol, I’ve had less sex than I’ve had in my life. It’s not really working out for me.”
