Ronda Rousey talks home invasion scare on ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’: They ‘stole my guns’ and Olympic rings

The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and PPV star sat down for her first public interview in months, where she revealed that her home had been burglarized.

One of the prices of celebrity is that you become an easy target. People know you, they know where you live, they know where you are day to day, and they know you have money. It’s one of the reasons that prominent celebrities end up with so much security, or walling themselves up in private ‘compounds.’

As Ronda Rousey recently found out, even being a famous fighter, fully capable of defending yourself, doesn’t make you immune to being robbed. In a recent interview for ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan,’ the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion detailed a recent incident. Apparently Rousey and her boyfriend Travis Browne were on their way to getting engaged, when they stopped by their house, only to find that they’d been the victim of a burglary (transcript via MMA Weekly).

“We stopped by the house right before we were going to go to the airport and he was going to sneak away and go ask my mom for permission, but right when we got to the house, we realized we were robbed,” Rousey explained. “Someone had been squatting in my house for like three days, sleeping in my bed.

“[They] stole my Olympic rings, stole my guns, stole all my precious jewelry, every headphone in the house, credit cards.”

However, Rousey also revealed that, with the help of a few security cameras, they knew exactly who the perpetrators were, and caught them soon afterward.

“We have security cameras so we looked back at them and we saw that they were a bunch of kids with skateboards and there’s a famous skate park right across the street cause we’re in Venice,” Rousey said. “So my man’s six-foot-seven, like 260 [pounds], he like beelines it straight to the skateboard park, finds the guys right away.

“He’s smart enough not to [hit them], we’ll get sued pretty hard, but he found the police right then and they caught them.”

TMZ reports that two suspects have been arrested in the burglary of Rousey’s residence: A 21-year-old woman, Zhamila Bolat, and a 20-year-old man, Alim Young. Apparently while the two were arrested for the crime, they have yet to be formally charged.

Rousey’s MMA career didn’t come up (potentially as part of what may be an ongoing media blackout from fight related questions). She’s currently doing work as a coach for ABC’s Battle of the Network Stars reboot. While she was slated for a series of Hollywood movie projects at the height of her UFC run, updates on her film career have been few and far between since her pair of losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.
