Miesha Tate is high on confidence going into her much-anticipated title fight against women’s bantamweight champion, Holly Holm, which is set to go down at UFC 196 on March 5, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Not only does “Cupcake” believe her fighting style is better equipped than Ronda Rousey’s to give Holm a tougher match up, but she isn’t afraid to stand-and-bang with the former boxing champion.
As she recently told FOX Sports, her experience in the cage — which equals that of Rousey’s and Holm’s combined — will ultimately prove to be a big factor in the title fight.
“I’m not like Ronda at all in my fighting style. I present different challenges and I have a lot more ring experience and I’ve been battle tested,” said Tate. “I’m definitely a battle-tested veteran. I know I can take a punch to give a punch and I don’t fear the clock.”
Speaking of the clock, Miesha says she doesn’t worry about a drawn out, 25-minute war. That’s because she knows how to be patient and strike when the time is right.
“I don’t care if it takes me 24 minutes and 59 seconds to win that fight, I will be in it to win it. I will be patient when I need to be patient, I will be explosive when I need to be explosive,” she proclaimed. “I will be calculated and precise and I will do exactly what I need to do to win this fight.”
Popular belief was that Holm was going to be forced to wait for an instant rematch against Rousey after taking her out at UFC 193 last November. But when “Rowdy” decided she needed more time off, “The Preacher’s Daughter” signed on to face Tate.
A decision Miesha says she and her team will ultimately regret.
“I think they’re going to regret the decision after the fact,” Tate confidently explained. “Like ‘man, we really wanted to step up, we wanted to prove the we’re the best in the world as champion,’ but I’m going to spoil those plans.”
And despite getting throttled twice by Rousey, Tate strongly believes she presents more challenging problems for Holm.
“They know this is a huge step up in competition. They know that stylistically, I think everyone believes that I’m a more challenging style for Holly. I present different problems.”
Just to be safe, she might want to enlist the services of this man, as he feels he has the recipe to put Holm to sleep.
