Rory MacDonald has always shown an assassin-like attitude towards his opponents.

Now that MacDonald is one of the prized fighters in Bellator MMA and not the UFC, some have questioned the level of competition around him.

Not MacDonald.

The Canadian fired off several messages on Twitter Wednesday, defending his decision to go to Bellator and the fighters that he could potentially share the cage with moving forward. Among those “Red King” mentioned include lightweight champion Michael Chandler, welterweight titleholder Andrey Koreshkov, Michael Page, Douglas Lima, Paul Daley and Benson Henderson.

“(People) sayin Bellator doesn’t have world class fighters reminds me of the time Strikeforce fighters had the same stigma,” he wrote. “Don’t be fooled by a logo. If (u) forgot Strikeforce fighters came over and took many belts in the UFC.”

While welterweight will be his No. 1 priority, MacDonald did mention the idea of competing at middleweight while adding “some ballzy 155ers that wanna jump up in weight.”
