Rory MacDonald (14-1) will meet Jake Ellenberger (29-6) on the July 27 card in Seattle. The news was first reported by The Province and later confirmed by the UFC.
No word just yet where the fight will be placed on the card, but according to the report, it will take place on the FOX-portion of the telecast. The undercard will air on FX.
This will mark MacDonald’s second-straight fight in Seattle and on FOX. He defeated B.J. Penn via unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 5 in December. “Ares” was scheduled to fight his rival Carlos Condit at UFC 158, but he pulled out of the fight due to a neck and back injury. The 23-year-old, who grew up in nearby British Columbia, Canada, has won his last four fights in a row.
Ellenberger, 28, is coming off a thrilling first-round knockout of Nate Marquardt at UFC 158 last month. That win marked his second in a row and eighth in his last nine fights.
UFC on FOX 8 will take place at Key Arena, site of UFC on FOX 5.
