Two days before fight night, UFC Vegas 9 — which is set to go down this Saturday night (Sept. 5, 2020) in Las Vegas, Nevada — has suffered yet another setback. Karol Rosa has been forced out of her women’s Bantamweight bout against Sijara Eubanks after weight-cutting issues forced her to take a trip to the hospital, and eventually to withdraw.
According to ESPN, Julia Avila will step in to face Eubanks, but the fight will now go down at UFC Vegas 10 on Sept. 12.
If you recall, Avila recently had her own fight against Nicco Montano — which was set to go down this Saturday in “Sin City” — cancelled after Montano tested positive for COVID-19. The bout was rebooked for an upcoming “Fight Night” event on Oct. 3. That fight is no more — for the time being — after the promotion tasked Avila to step up against Eubanks.
Avila is currently riding a four-fight win streak and has won eight of nine overall, including a win over Montano under the HD MMA banner. Eubanks, meanwhile, recently broke her two-fight skid by defeating Sarah Moras this past May.
UFC Vegas 9 will feature a Heavyweight showdown between Alistair Overeem and Augusto Sakai, while UFC Vegas 10 — which recently lost it’s headlining act between Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos — currently features Michelle Waterson taking on Angela Hill.
