A featherweight bout between Ryan Hall and Ricardo Lamas has been canceled for the second time.
It has been over a year since TUF 22 winner Ryan Hall last stepped inside the UFC Octagon. It had been expected that Hall would be returning to action this month, but—unfortunately—an injury means we will have to wait even longer to see Hall return to action.
According to MMA Fighting Hall is out of his scheduled August 29th bout with former UFC featherweight title challenger Ricardo Lamas. This is the second time that bout has been canceled. The first time was due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which scratched the entire UFC on ESPN+ 32 card that was planned for Oklahoma City on May 2nd.
Despite joining the UFC in 2015, Hall only has four fights inside the promotion. All those fights ended in victories. The first was against Artem Lobov for the TUF 22 crown. Since then he beat Gray Maynard, B.J. Penn and Darren Elkins.
Outside of MMA Hall has a long and decorated grappling career that has seen him win gold medals at National, North American, European and World competitions.
Lamas’ last fight was a TKO loss to Calvin Kattar at UFC 238 last June. Since losing to UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo in 2014, Lamas has gone 5-6 in the UFC with wins over Dennis Bermudez, Diego Sanchez and Charles Oliveira and losses to Josh Emmett, Max Holloway and Chad Mendes.
It’s unknown if Lamas will remain on the August 29 card, which currently set to take place at the UFC APEX facility. That card is scheduled to feature Anthony Smith vs. Aleksandar Rakic in the main event and Robbie Lawler vs. Neil Magny in the co-main.
