As real as it gets?
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has partnered with Samsung to bring live mixed martial arts (MMA) action to virtual reality headsets, by way of VR Live Pass on Gear VR, beginning with this weekend’s UFC 212 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Brazil.
You’ll need the headset to participate (duh).
“We’ve always felt that the potential of combining UFC events with virtual reality would give our fans the ultimate enhanced experience,” UFC Chief Operating Officer Ike Lawrence Epstein said. “We’re excited to partner with Samsung on this game-changing initiative to further revolutionize how fight fans consume our content and live events around the world.”
The action gets underway this Saturday night (June 3, 2017) in Rio.
UFC 212 will be headlined by the title unification bout pitting featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo against interim champion Max Holloway. In the women’s strawweight co-main event, No. 1-ranked Claudia Gadelha and No. 2-ranked Karolina Kowalkiewicz collide to see who stays alive in the division title race.
