Andrew Sanchez fell ill earlier this week and will be unable to compete at UFC Vancouver on Saturday night.
This weekend’s UFC card has lost one bout.
Andrew Sanchez is out of his middleweight fight with Marvin Vettori at UFC Vancouver on Saturday due to illness, TSN reported Wednesday. No replacement will be sought.
According to TSN, the plan is to re-book Sanchez vs. Vettori for a future card, but which one is unclear.
Sanchez is coming off a unanimous decision win over Marc-Andre Barriault earlier this year at UFC Ottawa. “El Dirte,” The Ultimate Fighter 23 winner, has won two in a row.
Vettori recently returned to the winning column in his last fight, defeating Cezar Ferreira by decision at UFC Sacramento in July. Prior to that, he hadn’t fought since a loss to Israel Adesanya in April 2018 due to a USADA violation.
UFC Vancouver is expected to be headlined by a lightweight bout between top contenders Donald Cerrone and Justin Gaethje. In the co-feature, Glover Teixeira meets Nikita Krylov at 205 pounds.
