Daniel Santos has been “removed” from his bantamweight bout against Said Nurmagomedov, according to an update from the promotion, leading to the cancelation of their preliminary card matchup at UFC 308 this weekend in Abu Dhabi.
No explanation was provided as to why Santos got pulled.
The UFC 308 fight card, headlined by the featherweight title fight between current 145-pound champion Ilia Topuria and former division titleholder Max Holloway, will continue with 13 fights spread across pay-per-view (PPV) and ESPN+ Prelims.
Robert Whittaker battles Khamzat Chimaev in the UFC 308 middleweight co-main event.
Santos (12-2) is coming off back-to-back wins over Johnny Munoz Jr. and John Castaneda. As for Nurmagomedov (18-3), he’s looking to build on last year’s submission victory over the aforementioned Castaneda at UFC 294, also in Abu Dhabi.
Perhaps matchmakers can rebook Santos vs. Nurmagomedov for a future card.
