Retired UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub is confident that the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor will last 12 rounds.
Retired UFC heavyweight fighter Brendan Schaub is confident about Conor McGregor’s chances against Floyd Mayweather. So confident that he has actually made a $100,000 bet with ESPN analyst Max Kellerman on the grounds that McGregor will be able to actually win some rounds against the man considered as one of boxing’s all-time greats.
Recently, Schaub decided to make things more interesting and risqué at the same time. In a recent interview with Rob King of the Kicker’s “The Extra Point”, Schaub laid down the conditions of his new wager that the fight goes the full 12 rounds, going against the belief of many that McGregor would end up getting finished in the fight.
“I will send you guys a d-ck pic if it doesn’t go 12 rounds,” Schaub said.
“I immediately regret saying that. I’m more worried about sending these d-ck pics than about the $100,000 bet with Max Kellerman now. It’s gonna be a good pic, though. I’mma hire glamour shots.”
“You gotta do it from the ground up,” he continued. “You don’t go face-on, like a shark.”
In all seriousness, Schaub says he is confident about McGregor’s chances based on his own experience as a fighter, and because of McGregor’s awkward style.
“This isn’t like a Skip Bayless take, like I’m just trying to honeyd-ck people like ‘oh give me views, give me that.’ I know what I’m talking about,” Schaub said. “I boxed for 15 years, fought professionally for ten years in mixed martial arts. I know boxing, I know mixed martial arts.”
“And I know when I got in there with professional boxers, it took a round to feel me out. And the way I do standup is traditional. It’s boxing, I don’t have this awkward style. Conor does.”
“With Conor, it’s a matter of time on how long does it take Floyd Mayweather to get used to this weird, awkward style,” he continued. “So, Mayweather has to download McGregor’s movement, everything, that he’s never seen before. He’s gonna do it, it’s just gonna be how long?”
As for the knockout finish, Schaub is not counting on it to be courtesy of Mayweather. And if it does happen for McGregor, he is expecting it in the early rounds.
“If you’re gonna look at the odds, you need to bet in the first two rounds that Conor knocks him out. If anyone’s gonna get knocked out, it’s Floyd. I promise you Conor will not get knocked out.
Mayweather vs. McGregor takes place on August 26th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
