The Strikeforce promotion has added a middleweight bout to it’s upcoming Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey event featuring Scott ‘Hands of Steel’ Stout (17-9, 1NC) and Lumumba Sayers (5-2).
News of the bout was announced by MMAWeekly.com on Friday night after confirming the match with sources close to the fight.
Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey is scheduled to take place on March 3 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio and features a Women’s Bantamweight Championship bout between title holder Miesha Tate versus undefeated fighter Ronda Rousey.
Smith will look for a win after three straight losses and a 1-4 record overs his last five. The comeback King was last in the cage in July of last year at the Fedor vs Henderson show, losing by decision to Tarec Saffiedine. The other two losses in this stretch include defeats at the hands of Paul Daley and a back-to-back rematch with Cung Le.
Sayers was last in action in November where he earned a 28-second knockout win against Antwain Britt at the Strikeforce Challengers 20 event. The victory was Sayers first in the Strikeforce cage having lost by submission to Derek Brunson at the Fedor vs. Henderson show.
