Fans expecting to see ‘The Silverback’ Seth Petruzelli (14-6) battle tonight in the Bellator cage will be disappointed to hear that the ‘Kimbo Killer’ has been forced off the card at the last minute due to illness.
After being inspected by a physician, the doctor determined that he could hear “wheezing and fluid” in Petruzelli’s lungs, and after a second physician’s concurrence, ‘The Silverback’ was pulled from tonight’s Bellator 68 card.
Petruzelli had been scheduled to face Carmelo Marrero in a 230-lbs catchweight bout on the MTV2 broadcasted card of Bellator 68.
Petruzelli posted the news on Twitter (@silverbackseth) roughly an hour before the main card began.
Guys, I have unbelievable news. The doc wouldn’t clear me to fight. I have been feeling sick for past week but haven’t told anyone. When the doc checked me he said he heard weezing and fluid in my lungs. Got a 2nd doc for another opinion and he said same thing. I am so sorry…I feel like I’m in a nightmare
The bout would have been Petruzelli’s second appearance inside a Bellator cage after debuting in August of last year at Bellator 48. Petruzelli defeated Ricco Rodriguez in the first round by knockout to earn his second straight victory since his dismissal by the UFC.
