“Mr. Finland” is coming to America.
A dynamite featherweight clash is on tap for UFC 244 in New York.
Newsday reported that New York’s own “Hurricane” Shane Burgos is scheduled to fight “Mr. Finland” Makwan Amirkhani on the blockbuster November 2nd pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden.
Burgos (12-1) is coming off a split decision win over Cub Swanson, and that split call was extremely questionable. He’s 5-1 in the UFC, with his lone defeat coming against current top-15 contender Calvin Kattar. His last appearance at MSG saw him submit Kurt Holobaugh at UFC 230.
Amirkhani (15-3) is also 5-1 in the UFC, most recently stopping Chris Fishgold by anaconda choke at UFC Stockholm. The submission specialist made a big splash in his Octagon debut back in 2015, knocking out Andy Ogle in eight seconds. His only loss in UFC competition came by split decision to Arnold Allen.
UFC 244 is slated to be headlined by a welterweight showdown between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal, while the co-main event pits former welterweight title challenger Darren Till in a middleweight bout against top contender Kelvin Gastelum.
