Shogun Rua will take on Sam Alvey on the UFC’s Sao Paulo card next month.
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Shogun Rua is not done with his UFC career just yet, as he is scheduled to take on Sam Alvey at UFC Sao Paulo in November.
ESPN reported the news. Rua, 37, hasn’t fought since December of last year, meanwhile Alvey will be fighting his third fight this calendar year when he takes on the Brazilian on November 16th.
Rua (26-11) has only lost one of his last five fights, a KO loss to Anthony Smith in July of last year. The 37-year-old defeated Tyson Pedro by third-round stoppage at UFC Adelaide in December of last year, earning himself a $50,000 bonus.
For the first time ever in his 47-fight MMA career, Alvey (33-13, 1NC) is on a three-fight losing skid. Losing a decision to Klidson Abreu at UFC San Antonio in July, ‘Smilin’ suffered stoppage losses to Jimmy Crute and ‘Minotouro’ Nogueira before that loss. He will hope to pick up his first win in almost 18-months against Rua.
UFC Sao Paulo takes place on November 16th in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Jacare Souza will make his light heavyweight debut in the main event when he takes on Jan Blachowicz.
