The two light heavyweights fought to a draw in 2019.
Believe it or not, Mauricio Rua has won five out of his last seven fights, and he’s looking to avenge one of his non-wins this fall.
ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reports the former UFC light heavyweight champion is set to rematch Scottish submission specialist Paul Craig at UFC 255 on November 21st. The two fought to a draw back in November 2019 in Brazil.
Rua (27-11-1) is coming off a split decision over rival Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC Fight Island 3 last month, sweeping the trilogy 3-0. The 38-year-old’s only defeat since 2015 is the brutal and quick knockout against Anthony Smith.
Craig (13-4-1) is on a three-fight unbeaten run, having submitted Gadzhimurad Antigulov and Vinicius Moreira on either side of the split draw with Shogun. All five of Craig’s career wins inside the Octagon have also netted him a Performance of the Night bonus, including his comebacks against Magomed Ankalaev and Kennedy Nzechukwu.
While UFC 255 does not have a venue, it will feature a flyweight title main event between champion Deiveson Figueiredo and Cody Garbrandt. The co-main event is a women’s flyweight title defense for Valentina Shevchenko against Jennifer Maia.
