A trilogy fight between Mauricio Rua (38) and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (43) has been added to the upcoming UFC 250 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which is set to go down on Sat., May 9, 2020 inside Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The two men initially threw down way back in 2005 during the Pride Middleweight Grand Prix Quarterfinals. “Shogun” ultimately proved victorious in what truly was an epic battle. The rematch between the two Light Heavyweight’s went down a decade later at UFC 190 in 2015. And once again, Rua proved victorious, taking home a unanimous decision win as well as “Fight of the Night” honors and the $50,000 bonus check that comes with it
And here we are five years later, as both men are still going at it, with Rua going 4-1-1 in his last six outings, while “Lil Nog” is 2-2 over his last four contests. That being said, the matchmaking here may raise more than a few eyebrows, seeing as how Rua won both fights.
Pride Never Die!
UFC 250 currently features a Heavyweight showdown between submission experts Fabricio Werdum and Alexey Oleynik. While not yet official, the event is set to be headlined by a Bantamweight title fight between division king, Henry Cejudo, and former Featherweight title holder, Jose Aldo.
