Wanderlei Silva claims he was offered a hefty amount to fight Mike Tyson, which coach Rafael Cordeiro shut down.
Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship president David Feldman recently went on record to reveal a supposed $20 million offer to Mike Tyson. And instead of Tito Ortiz as the other man in the ring, Feldman instead sees Wanderlei Silva as the possible opponent.
“No matter how old Silva gets, he’s dangerous, and I think that would be an intriguing matchup. Something like that, but I don’t actually have anything in mind right now,” he said.
Feldman says Tyson turned down BKFC’s proposal, but he’s not giving up just yet. From the other end, the 43-year-old Silva claims the company already made him an offer, which he accepted.
“They offered me $10 million plus pay-per-view percentage and I accepted immediately. I hope Feldman can make it happen,” Silva said (via Boxingscene.com). “I hope Feldman can make it happen.”
As these money talks continue to surface, Rafael Cordeiro isn’t jumping on just yet. The renowned head coach, who’s trained Silva in the past and is now working with Tyson, dismissed them as mere rumors.
“I didn’t get any calls from Wand or Tyson, but as far as I know that fight wont happen. “Tyson is training to make a boxing fight — with gloves. It is hard to comment about rumors,” Cordeiro said.
Tyson last stepped inside the boxing ring in 2005 and was knocked out by journeyman Kevin McBride in the sixth round. “The Axe Murderer,” meanwhile, last competed at Bellator 206 in 2018 in a fourth fight against fellow veteran Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. He lost by second round TKO.
