Anderson Silva is sitting pretty on a bonus $100,000 forfeited by Julio Chavez Jr. after the latter missed weight for their planned boxing match on Saturday.
Silva, 46, made the contractually obligated weight of 180 lbs during Friday’s weigh-in; however, Chavez Jr., 35, missed the mark for their headliner at “Tribute to the Kings” on Sat., June 19 inside Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Chavez Jr. officially weighed in at 184.4 lbs. As a consequence, Chavez Jr. forfeited $100,000 of his purse to the “Spider”.
The FITE.tv pay-per-view (PPV) bout is the first major boxing bout for Silva, a former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion who is looking to start a new chapter in his storied combat career after parting ways with the promotion in 2020. Silva is coming off a loss to Uriah Hall. As for Chavez Jr., he is looking for his second straight win after defeating Jeyson Minda in Nov. 2020.
Also throwing down will be Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. taking on Hector Camacho Jr.
