The UFC’s new Fight Pass show is going to have a very unique “SnoopCast” that offers an alternate commentary from Snoop Dogg and Urijah Faber.
Well this is certainly different. The UFC is always looking to broaden its appeal, and what better way to do that than to get a cultural icon to handle some announcing duties? The UFC’s new Fight Pass series, Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders, will feature five live fights every Tuesday with fighters competing to get into the UFC. And while a regular commentary team hasn’t been decided upon yet, an alternate commentary team has.
Snoop Dogg and Urijah Faber.
Yes folks, you can choose to listen to the “SnoopCast”, which is an alternate commentary from the regular announcers and will feature Mr. Calvin Broadus himself along with UFC Hall of Famer Faber calling the action. In a press release, both Snoop and Dana White promoted the SnoopCast:
“I’m a big fan of UFC and looking forward to joining the team to bring my unique take on all the action. Y’all in for a brand-new experience with Dogg on the mic.”
…
“Snoop and I have wanted to do something together for a long time. He’s a huge fight fan and wanted to call fights. This is a fun opportunity for fans to opt into SnoopCast and hear his take along with Urijah Faber on how the fights are going.”
Honestly, this is a great idea. While it’s tough to get people to watch more fights in an already-saturated UFC world, you know Snoop is going to make you laugh with what he has to offer. Faber will be there to steer the ship and offer technical analysis, and the whole thing sounds like a lot of fun.
Tuesday Night Contenders kicks off on July 11th, and will run for eight weeks on Fight Pass.
