A quality bantamweight matchup is on tap for UFC on ESPN in Washington DC.
China is celebrating its historic new UFC strawweight champion Weili Zhang, but don’t forget about another rising Chinese MMA star.
Bantamweight Song Yadong is set to face Cody Stamann at UFC on ESPN in Washington DC on December 7th. Washington Post’s Gene Yang first reported the news, with UFC officials confirming shortly thereafter.
Yadong (14-3, 2 NCs) is a perfect 4-0 inside the Octagon, and most recently flattened Alejandro Perez with a brutal and very impressive one-punch KO at UFC 239. His other UFC victories have come against Bharat Khandare (at featherweight), Felipe Arantes, and Albert Morales.
Stamann (18-2) also is coming off a win over Perez, albeit a unanimous decision and not a stoppage. He was supposed to fight Rob Font at UFC Greenville in June but had to withdraw due to injury. The Michigan native boasts a 5-1 UFC record, with only Aljamain Sterling able to get the better of him.
UFC Washington DC airs live on ESPN, with a heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris serving as the main event.
