Sorry!!!

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight champion Jon Jones makes his highly anticipated return at UFC 309 this weekend (Sat., Nov. 16, 2024) against former champion Stipe Miocic from inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The build-up between the two headliners for this Heavyweight championship fight has been pretty quiet until this past weekend. Jones caught wind of Miocic calling him a b—tch on the UFC 309 countdown (watch it here) and randomly flipped out on social media on Sunday.

“Hiring black fighters to mimic me will not help you, Stipe. And you shouldn’t have called me a b—ch, the disrespect wasn’t necessary. Let’s play,” Jones wrote.

Today (Monday, Nov. 11, 2024), during an interview with Ariel Helwani, Miocic walked back from calling Jones a female dog and apologized.

“He was talking to me; I was talking to him. Bring it on. Sorry if I hurt his feelings,” Miocic said. “I’m sorry; I wasn’t trying to disrespect him. It was just the heat of the moment.”

Jones has not responded to Miocic’s apology as of this writing. Still, the week has just started, and there will be several opportunities, whether at media day or the pre-fight press conference.

If the main event of UFC 309 needed any boost, maybe this random bad blood was what it needed.
