Live on PPV tonight, it’s Errol Spence Jr. defending his Welterweight title against Mikey Garcia in a battle of undefeated fighters. Bloody Elbow will have round by round recaps all night. Here, take a look at rounds 1-3.
Round 1: Slow start from both with nothing particularly explosive coming from either end. Spence is working off his jab, which is smart since he’s the taller man with the reach advantage. He also lands a couple shots to the body, which is something Garcia will need to stop. 10-9 Spence
Round 2: Heading into the 2nd, Garcia’s corner calls for him to close the distance and not let Spence fight at his range. And that leads to a more aggressive Garcia here. Spence is doing good work with his defense, blocking most of Garcia’s shots, but Garcia is keeping him working. Spence again lands the cleaner shots overall though. 10-9 Spence
Round 3: Spence continues to lead with the jab, but he’s doing a better job stringing the left hand behind it now, both to the head and to the body. Garcia still has not seemed to quite find his offense, which he needs to get going. 10-9 Spence
