UFC lightweight contender Kenny Florian was admitted to a Boston-area hospital today for a staph infection in his knee that he developed while on vacation this past week in the Caribbean, according to a post on his official Twitter account.
Florian wrote that he expects to undergo minor surgery and receive IV antibiotics to deal with the infection. The hospital visit was described as “precautionary” by his manager, Ron Weinberg.
“It’s just an unfortunate thing that happened, and he’ll be treated,” Weinberg today told MMAjunkie.com. “He’ll be in the hospital as long as it takes to evaluate everything and make sure he’s good.”
